TaN: In the ongoing political controversy in the Philippines (relative to this writing), one of the alleged central issues is the right to travel. First, it must be understood that there is no such thing as a “right to travel”. What everyone is referring to is the right to liberty (or freedom of movement).
Like everything else, all reality is finite or has a limit – our planet, our solar system, our galaxy, our galactic cluster, this universe. This limitation is inclusive of even the non-physical world, like our rights. Rights are limited in several ways, one of which is Responsibility – as in, One man’s right is another man’s responsibility.
One of the arguments repeatedly being raised in favor of the said right (to travel) is that the Constitution guarantees it. However, most everyone fails to understand that the Constitution is limited to the political boundaries of the state. It does not extend to other states. The “right to travel” is absolute only within the Philippines (as in this case). It does not guarantee travel to other countries – it is why a foreign traveler needs a passport – and, in many cases, a visa. One cannot argue or insist one’s “right to travel” if the desired destination country does not want to accept or receive you.
Unless there are extenuating circumstances (like being convicted of a crime and serving a prison sentence), one is free to go anywhere within the confines of the political boundaries of the state or poltical entity that one belongs to or citizen of. [If you push this issue to absurdity, how about insisting on the right tro travel for or when you are an abductee?]
TaN: The subtle but constant and continuous deterioration of civilization is yet another evidence of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics: Entropy. Entropy dictates that, “Over time, things tend to break down or deteriorate into chaos or disorder”. This is in direct contradiction or opposition to the currently widely accepted “scientific” theory of the Big Bang – where everything resulted from a single supermassive singularity, exploding to infinite atoms and molecules, which, over time, organized themselves into what we know and call heavenly/celestial bodies – i.e., stars and star systems, planets and planetary systems, comets, asteroids, moons and satellites, interstellar clouds and nebulae, dark and anti matter, all the way down to the microscopic and even subatomic and “ghost” particles (such as photons, mesons, neutrinos), etc.
I have yet to see a pile of cement, wood, nails, steel bars, gravel, sand, paint, galvanized sheets, and glass form themselves into a house – not in a million years. Nor, have I seen a set of gears, screws, rods, springs, and straps form themselves into wrist watches. It just does not happen, no matter how long it takes. It was, is, and will always be from order to disorder, not and never the other way around. It is yet another proof to the truth spoken in the Holy Scriptures – that the heavens proclaim the glory of God (Psalm 19:1). We see the existence of the Creator through the things that He created, the systematic organization of it all.
Entropy (2nd Law of Thermodynamics) even applies to our civilization. You will notice that as time passes, everything is going from bad to worse to worst. Prices is getting farther and farther from the reach of the majority; Life is getting more and more complicated and difficult; there is more war and conflicts and dissatisfaction and discontentment and unhappiness and despair and misery and pverty; there is less and less of our necessities and needs and more and more of what we do not need (i.e., our wants); and, there are more preventable and self-inflicted injury and death (suicides, accidents, etc). This is precisely what the sarcastic joke of the definition of “progress” refers to – that Progress is the ever changing process of making things as good AS THEY USED TO BE.
